What is Lifestyle Photography?

Lifestyle photography are candid, non posed, natural photos. It is about documenting moments as a family which are honest, natural photos in the environment of your own home. Lifestyle photography captures connection and relationship between you and your baby, dad and siblings.

Will you just take lifestyle photos?

As well as the natural family lifestyle photos. Individual photos of your baby will be taken, posed in a way you would naturally find baby. It is best to put baby in a plain onesie and also have some shots of baby in their nappy to capture the details like their toes and shoulders. I like to capture details of baby, as well as them baby being fed, dressed.

Where will the photos be taken?

Having the photo session in the comfort of your own home is a great benefit. We all know how tiring being a Mum is in those first few weeks. Having photos taken in your own home means you don’t have to prepare anything to take with you and lumber yourselves in the car when you’d rather be at home. I can arrange a convenient time for you for me to come to your home. It is also nice to capture baby in their nursery so you can remember the details of the room you’ve planned for your baby.

The photos are usually taken mainly in the living room, master bedroom or nursery. It is best to see what time of the day is lightest in your home, note the times when it is brightest in those particular rooms but not when the sun is beaming right through.

How long will the photo session last?

The photo session usually takes between 1-2 hours. Baby is in charge, don’t worry if you need to stop to feed or change baby. Or even if you need time to comfort baby to get them back to sleep.

Are siblings included?

Yes they are! It is best to take the sibling photos first so they can then go off and play after. It is a good idea to have a family member with you as well to keep an eye on siblings so you can relax and have photos taken with baby. I love to capture the special bond between siblings.

What should we wear?

Neutral colours are best. It’s best not to wear not to wear any logos or characters on clothing as it can distract from your photos. Checks and stripes compliment well with solid colours. Pinterest is a great place to look for inspiration.
